ACADEMIC TUTORING - Now that the school year is in full swing, the need for tutoring has started. Starting tomorrow, any academic class that you need tutoring in will have a tutoring window available from 7:45 - 8:15 am Tuesdays through Fridays each week. You can log in for tutoring using your teacher's regular Zoom IDs.
If you are interested in peer tutoring, Encore's National Honor Society offers Zoom based peer tutoring for Encore students. To get help through NHS, email Mr. Parker jparker@encorehighschool.com. He is the NHS advisor and will be able to help connect you with an appropriate tutor.
SPED COHORT - SPED students in need of in person support will start their on campus cohort next week with Ms. Swingle. The cohort for SPED students model was approved by the CDC and state of California to make sure that special needs populations are supported during the pandemic. There is a limited number of students allowed on campus and they can come on campus for a limited number of hours. Cohort students will enter through the "A" Building to get temp checks and a health check. Then, they will go to B1 for a maximum of three hours twice per week to work in their cohort. To find out about the cohort, email SPED Secretary Ms. Carolyn Rangel crangel@encorehighschool.com.
INTERNET CAFE - Starting next Monday, students in need of internet connectivity will be allowed on campus to work in the internet cafe. There is a limited number of students allowed to attend the internet cafe and must have a reservation. This quiet area is to have access to the internet to complete class work. They are allowed on campus twice per week for a maximum of three hours. This is for students that have connectivity issues only. To reserve a space for the Internet Cafe, contact Ms. Joelle Schwarck jschwarck@encorehighschool.com
EL COHORT - English Learner students in need of in person support will start their on campus cohort next week with Mr. Zamanis. This cohort will meet once per week for additional EL support.
SENIORS - Must log in to the counseling meetings on Fridays. It is during the fall that students need to think about and start applying to colleges. Every Friday during 0 period, counseling has two sessions expressly for seniors to gain an understanding of how to be prepared for life after high school and college entry. The class of 2021 needs to be there.
CREDIT RECOVERY - For seniors that have earned Fs during their high school years, on Friday during 9th period, you will be required to make up those courses so you will be ready for graduation. Our counseling department is checking in on students that are behind due to failing grades and are doing what they can to make sure that graduation will be a reality for you. Check your emails and your schedule to make sure you are participating in credit recovery.
For all other grade levels, if you have failed ANY academic class from 9th grade forward, you should be enrolling in credit recovery early so you are not stuck with taking a bunch of partial classes your senior year to make them us. If you have any questions about credit recovery, reach out to the counseling department by going to encorehighschool.com and filling out the counseling request form. https://www.encorehighschool.com/copy-of-attendance-verification
