7th and 8th Grade Return to School

We have been so excited to see our kids back on campus. As it is a slow go for everyone, we appreciate everyone's patience in this reopening. Thank you for being so supportive.

On Friday of this week from 9 am to noon, 7th grade students that have chosen traditional or hybrid program will have a jump start on campus to get orientated before school starts for seventh grade on Monday, April 26.

So far, Encore has readmitted students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 on campus that have selected either the Traditional or Hybrid program. They attend school as a regular campus day Monday through Thursday and then do asynchronous testing and projects on Fridays with their periods 0 and 9. This week, there has been an average of about 80 students on campus each school day.

On Monday, 8th grade students that have chosen either traditional or hybrid programs can return to school with proof of a negative COVID test administered within the last ten days. If you have not received a COVID test yet, log on to https://sb.fulgentgenetics.com/appointment/screen/landing to schedule an appointment. There are two testing sites in the high desert through the county, VVC and Percy Bakker Community Center. I have personally used both sites and they are quick, easy, FREE, and my results have typically come in about 24 hours. (I tested 15 times before my vaccination was complete.) I experienced very nice people at both locations.

7th grade students will return to school on Monday, April 26. This week, our front office team is calling all seventh grade families that chose Traditional or Hybrid to verify population before we release whether 7th grade will be open for Monday through Friday school or if we will be running 7th grade in blocks of Monday & Tuesday and then Wednesday & Thursday school. All other grade populations have been cleared for Monday through Thursday regular school day schedule.

When students come on campus, they will be required to socially distance, wear a mask, wash their hands often, use only a water bottle for refills (the drinking fountains have been replaced with touchless technology), and submit to a health check before leaving their car in the morning that includes a negative COVID test (or complete vaccination plus 15 days) and a temperature scan.

On campus, Encore is using UV technology in all of the classrooms for sanitation and santiation foggers. Social distancing within the classrooms for desks have been set up and all students face the same direction. Doors are propped open and windows are open to provide extra ventilation whenever possible. About 75% of Encore's staff has been fully vaccinated with both doses.

In San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, any person 16+ is now eligible for the vaccine, so we have many students that are already working on complete vaccination.

If your student is on our COVID program for distance learning instruction and you would like to place them on the waitlist to move into the traditional program for in person instruction, please contact Encore's Front Desk at 760-956-2632. When the phone answers, dial "0" to talk to the front desk.

We thank everyone for their patience through this unprecedented time and really appreciate the support that we have received from parents and students. We love our pirates and I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there and keep pressing on.
