As part of Encore's blog, I am making sure to share all of the information reporting from our Board meetings every month. Encore's School Board meetings take place every month, generally the second Monday of every month at 6:00 pm. You are invited to join us online for these meetings every month and to stay involved with Encore.
Today's report comes from Ms. Jordan Leverette. She is one of Encore's Creative Managers and is responsible for Encore's College and Career Cafe, Academic Competitions, and Encore Chats. If you have a specific question for Ms. Leverette, you can reach her at jleverette@encorehighschool.com. Thank you for your contribution.
COLLEGE & CAREER
OCTOBER 2020
GENERAL
The pandemic has provided a new set of challenges in regards to college and career.
However, with perseverance and adaptation we have maintained the priority of student post-high school success. In response to decreased physical accessibility, weekly virtual sessions with the entire senior class provide information and support to facilitate student achievement. Topics include resume writing, identity development, military career pursuance, completing college applications, how-to speak with college admissions reps, acquisition and utilization of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA and scholarship opportunities. In addition, three A-G approved, college-preparatory elective online curricula (Graduation House Cord Certification, Master Certification, Senior Careers Project) were developed to guide students towards college and career readiness.
