We have completed another school day in the world of Zoom and Covid Distance Learning. Thank you for being patient as Aeries has been FUN and challenging this week. We appreciate your patience. A couple things came up in the office today that I wanted to help clarify for everyone. Hopefully, this will make everyone's lives a little easier.
- INDEPENDENT STUDY VS. COVID DISTANCE LEARNING
For several weeks, Encore's staff worked very hard to explain the difference betweeen independent study and COVID Distance Learning to everyone. We had multiple blogs and emails plus physical phone calls to everyone that had not responded. After that, there has still been a tremendous amount of people trying to change plans over the last two days for multiple reasons. We want to support you in the best way that we can, but we need everyone to understand what they chose for their family plan.
Independent Study - means that you are doing your courses independently this year with no expectation to come on campus for the school year. You do not have a regular school schedule and you are working directly with your independent study coordinator to complete classes. About 1/3 of our campus has chosen to be independent study for the school year.
COVID Distance Learning - means that you are planning to come back on campus when the school reopens for in person learning and when your family is comfortabe with you returning to class. This is also based on the room available on campus. (Anyone that chose COVID-DL will have to notify counseling when they are ready to return to in person school to make sure that there is room based on CDC Guidelines.
Once you have made a choice for the family, you have to petition to change your status in family plan by sending an email to your counselor. You can fill out the counseling request on the encorehighschool.com website. People choosing to change the family plan status will have to wait three weeks (once we can confirm room based on CDC return to school guidelines) before changes can be made based on availability. Please let them know you want to change your family plan status in the message. Thank you for your patience and your understanding in this matter.
- WHAT ABOUT FRIDAYS?
On Fridays, Encore has updated how classes will happen. The first part of the day will be a time when all students will take benchmark tests and quizzes in their academic classes. They will (when class resumes in person) report to their homeroom class and then take tests remotely from their homeroom class. In COVID-DL times, students will meet with their academic teachers based on the following chart. The teachers will assign the weekly test on Zoom and students will complete the work. You will use your teachers' Zoom ID at the appropriate time.

- JUNIOR HIGH ADVANCED ACADEMICS PROGRAM
Attention junior high parents and students. We have A LOT of room in our Honors programs for both grades 7 and 8. If you are someone that should be in Honors programs for History, English, Science, and Math - please fill out the contact form in the bottom margin of the encorehighschool.com website and let us know so we can update your schedule for the junior high honors programs. Thank you so much for your help.
- JUNIOR HIGH CONSERVATORY CLASSES
During the day today, the counseling department was working hard on getting the junior high students that auditioned into the high school conservatory classes into their high school classes. Please take a look at your Aeries account if you auditioned and qualified at a level I or higher in your conservatory. On your junior high schedule, it will indicate the class "HS Conservatory." You do not need to attend Mrs. Del Sole's class for your conservatory course. Please do not log in to any class during this time. On Friday at 12:30 pm, you will log in to a Zoom session 921 6707 3730 Passcode: Go Pirates!
High School Conservatory classes will start for junior high students next Monday. Only attend this meeting if you have already auditioned for and were accepted into a conservatory level class. If you check your schedule and you do not have HS Conservatory in any of your classes and you should, please fill out the Contact form in the bottom margin of the encorehighschool.com website so we can assist you.
We are excited for a great year. Thank you for your ongoing support of youth arts and thank you for your ongoing support of Encore High School.
