If you are a member of the class of 2021, we know that you are uneasy about what the school year will bring. You are going to have an unprecedented senior year with a lot of changes from what has happened in year's past. However, your education team at Encore is going to make sure that we absolutely sweat the small stuff so you can celebrate your achievements. We believe that you should have the opportunity to celebrate your senior year.
An Encore tradition for the start of the school year for our seniors has always been senior sunrise. Seniors meet at the school to symbolically ring in their final year of high school. They listen to inspirational words from their most respected teachers and then they watch the sun come up, the dawn of their senior year. Yesterday, we received basic protocols from HUSD to allow Senior Sunrise to happen this year. This tradition will stay in tact, even in the pandemic.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE FOR SENIOR SUNRISE?
Senior Sunrise is a time to take a deep breath and take in the moment that commemorates the first day of your last public school year.
"Life moves pretty fast and if we don't take a moment to stop and look around, we could miss it." - Ferris Bueller
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO -
- Senior Sunrise will be held on Friday, September 18 from 5 am - 7am at Encore High School.
- Senior Academic testing "period 0" for that day will be held after lunch via Zoom, so no classes will be lost for that day.
- Senior Sunrise will take place "Drive-in style" where students will stay in their cars for the entire event.
- The presentation of Senior Sunrise will run digitally so at least one person in the car needs to have a phone with internet access to be able to go to "Instagram Live."
- Seniors that are unable to attend in their car will be able to go to "Instagram Live" to participate wherever you are.
- To get insight on ASB activities coming up, subscribe to "Encore Social" on Facebook @encorescrapbook.
- Seniors need to RSVP for the event https://www.encorehighschool.com/event-details/senior-sunrise SPACE IS LIMITED FOR CDC GUIDELINES.
SAFETY COVID-19 PROTOCOLS -
- Senior Sunrise will take place in a drive-in experience fashion. Only people in cars will be allowed to participate in senior sunrise. (No motorcycles, bicycles, walk ins)
- As cars arrive on campus, they will be directed to an appropriate parking space that is socially distanced.
- People that are in the cars are their own "cohort." They cannot leave their cars to intermingle with other cars. Cars can have a maximum of one person per seatbelt.
- The "A Building" restrooms will be open in the event that you need it. Anyone leaving their car to go to the restroom is required to have a mask on.
- If you want to roll your windows down during the experience, everyone in the car will have to wear a mask, bring your mask.
- If a car is not following the rules, they will be immediately ejected from the experience.
We are excited for a great school year. The Class of 2021 is at the forefront of the biggest change in education in hundreds of years. Although the change in education has come out of a very unusual circumstance, big change of this nature cannot happen without being stimulated with something very big - like a global pandemic. Your class gets to see the dawn of a new era of education.
