Encore is serious about safety during COVID

Based on the uncertainty of the fall via Covid, Encore has revised their Independent Study track to include a COVID track. This track will allow students to take classes in real time at home while the classes are taking place on campus. This way, when a student is ready to return to school, they can step into class without missing a beat.

Encore has updated the website to reflect everything that is in place so far for the implementation of a successful school year coming this fall.

Encore High School has been following up to date guidelines as they are disseminated by the CDC and the CDE.  Check back here in the coming weeks to find Encore's contingency plans for COVID-19 in the fall.  These plans are currently being developed based on the "Stronger Together" guidebook that was created by the CDE and CDC. (To see the guide, click the covid guidebook here.

CURRENT PRECAUTIONS:

  • Encore's campus is closed to the public through July 7, 2020. Offices will reopen Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm starting July 7th.

  • Sanitation guidelines are being taught to the staff through Encore's Risk Manager.

  • Encore's teaching staff is working from home.

  • Anyone that enters the campus must enter through the Administration Office.

  • Upon entry, all people must have face coverings.

  • Upon entry, all people must wash their hands.

  • Upon entry, all people must get their temperature checked.

  • Reception desk areas have been protected with plastic sheeting.

  • Encore has all people on campus social distancing.

CURRENT FALL OFFERINGS FOR PROGRAMS:

Encore is still developing the programs that will be used this fall, but Encore has a fully online home school / independent study program that students and families can opt to sign up for during the COVID pandemic.

Covid Home School Program:

  • This program is being put in place to make sure that when the student feels comfortable OR if the pandemic subsides, students are poised and ready to return to the classroom.  Independent Study students can choose the Non-Covd or Covid program for independent study.

  • Encore students that are enrolled in a full time independent study program are assigned an independent study coordinator.

    • The independent study (IS) coordinator has a caseload of about 25 full time students.

    • The IS coordinator completes IS contracts with the student each semester and creates an academic plan.

    • The IS coordinator sends messages home to parents and students each week detailing academic progress for the student.

    • The IS coordinator communicates with the credentialed teacher that is teaching/overseeing/tutoring the course(s) that the IS student is enrolled in.

    • The IS coordinator helps schedule Zoom class observations, online peer tutoring, online teacher tutoring, and online testing.

    • The IS coordinator proctors the weekly tests and has a weekly online meeting via Zoom with the student regarding academic progress.

  • Encore IS students are responsible for:

    • Logging on to class every school day.

    • Communicating with IS coordinator and teacher upon completion of work to be graded.

    • Meeting with the IS coordinator online every week via Zoom.

    • Maintaining academic progress according to the academic plan.

    • Communicating need and desire for tutoring or additional help.

For Encore's Covid Independent Study program, students are enrolled in multiple classes as if they were on campus.  Teachers have log ins via Zoom for the students to go to school remotely and in real time. Covid Independent Study has students enrolling and attending classes as if they were on campus, but from home.  Teachers record their Zoom lessons and post on their Google classroom so students can get the class if they missed it. (Recorded Zoom classes stay online for 2 weeks.)  Students enrolled in the Covid IS program are ready and on pace to return to school at any time because they are taking the classes with seat-based class, but from home.
