Every year, Encore undergoes an independent third party audit that is Board approved and then submitted to the District, County, and State. This is a routine audit that makes sure that all monies are expended where they are intended.
This year, the audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2020 was delayed slightly due to COVID-19, but will be put before Encore's School Board for approval on March 8, 2021. Some key points from the audit are shared here.
Encore Education Corporation complied in all material respected with the types of compliance requirements for the year ended June 30, 2020 for state programs including:
· Proper expenditure of Education Protection Account Funds
· Unduplicated Local Control Funding Formula Pupil Counts
· Local Control and Accountability Plan
· Charter Schools: Attendance
· Charter Schools: Model of Instruction
· Charter Schools: Nonclassroom-Based Instruction / Independent Study
· Annual Instructional Minutes – Classroom Based
· Charter School Facility Grant Program
In the 19/20 school year, Encore was able to improve overall attendance rates to a 98.2% attendance (up 4% from the 18/19 school year).
Encore helps to bridge the academic gap by offering extended school years by thousands of minutes.
High school students receive 4,044 extra instructional minutes from the state required minimum.
Middle school students receive 14,844 extra minutes from the state required minimum.
The annual audit has also shown that the organization has improved its financial condition over each of the last two fiscal years and must continue monitoring progress to maintain stability.
Recommendations for improvements included strengthening internal controls that is being remediated on the Encore campus by the addition of a fiscal controller and a third party bookkeeper to oversee the Student Services Account.
Encore looks forward to the continued growth from year to year of fiscal practices.
