Encore's Charter Renewal Process Has Started

As a charter school, Encore undergoes a renewal of the charter petition every five years with the Hesperia Unified School District. Encore's current charter expires on June 30, 2021 so we are currently in the process of the negotiation for the contract renewal. This will be Encore's fourth charter term with HUSD. (The first term was three years, followed by two five year terms.)

Last night, Encore gave their Board presentation to the Hesperia Unified School District School Board. It was kind of a weird presentation because it was done virtually due to COVID. Historically, we have always rallied the parents and the students to come to the meeting and given the Board a "sea of red" to show the support for the school and the good that Encore is doing for the community. Usually, we have about an hours worth of people speaking to the Board to let them know how important Encore is to their child and their family. Having the meeting moved to Zoom really changed the fabric of what this looked like last night.

I feel good about the presentation last night and know that the next step will be communicating through any items that HUSD wishes Encore to work on for improvement to help us complete the renewal. The next 30 days will be critical to a renewal and we need your help.

Over the next 10 days, we need our parents, staff, and students to send emails to the HUSD School Board in a show of support for Encore to continue to thrive in the high desert. We invite you to tell your story and tell HUSD why Encore is important to you. We need to prove that we have community support for Encore. Thank you in advance for your help.

Encore invites stakeholders to please take a moment this weekend to send your positive stories to the school board and the district to let them know that you support the work that Encore has been doing in the high desert for the last twelve years. They need to know that we have a family base that is interested in seeing our operations continue as a legacy in the high desert.

If you have questions, comments, or concerns - we ask you to please reach out to us.
