Encore's team, in an effort to help with school reopening plans, has been working with Hesperia Unified School District to make sure that our staff can be ready for reopening as quickly as allowed. As of Friday, 22% of Encore's staff has received their first dose of the vaccine. On Monday, it is expected that 50% of our staff will have received their first dose of the vaccine.
The overall case rate in the Hesperia Unified School District is down 13.5 per 100,000 this week which is good news (as published by the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health). The county is looking at schools that will be able to reopen (hopefully soon). We will keep you updated as we get updates.
The county is asking for residents to continue to get tested regularly not only to stop the spread of the virus, but to also help reopen the economy ino ur county. When there are more tests that show up negative in the statistics, it helps the overall percentage of positive cases. The county is trying to get to a lower number of positive cases per 100,000 tests administered. We can do our part by continuing to get regular COVID-19 tests. Thank you for helping us.
We are making good progress, as everyone is tired of the current situation. Encore is asking for parents to talk to your kids about staying the course. There have been some discipline issues this week on Zoom with antsy students that just want to be back in school. We get it. We do too. Our counseling department is hosting a mental health course on March 10 to help with student mental health. Keep watching for updates and hang in there.
