Grades and Parent/Teacher Conferences

First progress reports are being tallied by teachers over this weekend and this is the hardest grading period that Encore has ever had. Parents, please know that this is a progress report and NOT first quarter grades. We are working together to support our children and make sure that we can make the best progress possible.
There are two main concerns that we are trying to address with this first progress report. The first is lack of participation in class and the second is turning in incomplete work. As a result, we have a lot of kids that have not completed enough work to even factor a grade.
To help parents and students through this, Encore's teaching staff and administration is taking a position of support during this difficult time. If your student is earning an "F" or a "NM" (No Mark) in any class, that teacher is going to reach out to have a one on one Zoom conference with you and your student. Our teaching staff wants to help your family and your student succeed by offering support where support is needed in each class.
Conferences will start on Tuesday morning. Teachers will not have tutoring for the next two weeks so conferences can take place to help students. They will also schedule conferences during their prep periods and during their Friday prep to be able to reach as many students and parents as possible. Teachers will be sending emails to parents and students with a Zoom link for these conferences. Conferences are scheduled on 15 minute blocks.
We know that the transition to distance learning has been very difficult for some of our students and NO ONE planned or thought that this is where school would be this year. We are in this together. With this one on one interaction, hopefully we can come to a connected plan of support so your student can succeed in school this year.
Thank you so much for your cooperation.
Thank you for your ongoing support of youth arts and thank you for your ongoing support of Encore High School.
