Internships and How They Work

Encore has spent the last few years developing a strong career technical education in a variety of strands. This year, all of our arts classes have transferred to career planning courses that help students get an understanding of how to turn their art into a career. The transition is going to make a huge difference for students after they graduate.

One of Encore's newer programs (entering year two this year) are the internship programs. Students can opt to take an internship in office management, information technology (IT), or teaching. There are several kids that have signed up for these classes. With COVID giving everyone such a strange start to the new year, I have been asked to clarify internships for everyone that has opted into one.

If you have opted to take an internship in teaching - you will need to register to take the "Introduction to Education: Teacher Internship" course on encorestudent.com. You do not need to log into Zoom sessions, but should be working to complete this course prior to school starting back on campus. During your internship class time, you should be working on this course independently.

For the IT and office internships - you will be starting your course as soon as the campus reopens. These are "hands on" internships that require in person training. During your classtime that you are not on campus, you can work on other homework. Should Encore not resume on campus by November 1, 2020 - your internship program will start online with a course similar to the teaching internship program. In the meantime, this course is awaiting the return to campus.

It is very important that students are completing work every school day. When you miss your class on Zoom, but are still doing work, remember to fill out the attendance verification on the bottom margin of the website.

We are excited for a great year. Thank you for your ongoing support of youth arts and thank you for your ongoing support of Encore High School.
