It's Friday and the First 9th Period Day

Happy Friday!
Today is the first Friday of the year where all of Encore's students will follow their Friday schedule. Today, all students will first log in to their 0 period class for attendance at 8:20 am. They will then move on to their next academic class for the Friday testing schedule.

At 11:20 am, everyone has lunch. After lunch, you will report to your 9th period class.
Today, your ninth period class is at 12:15 pm. You will start to work on the Encorestudent.com career courses that correlate with your art lab classes. While we are not in person, we have decided to help all of you by working on the career standards for your classes so when we are back in person, we can concentrate on the arts techniqe for the class.
During today's class if you are in the House of Performing Arts (Cirque, Dance, Theatre), the House of Music Arts (Instrumental Music, Vocal Music), or the House of Expressive Arts (Visual and Technical Arts), you will be registering for the course Arts, Media, and Entertainment Level I on Encorestudent.com. This course will teach you about careers in the art world and also how to go about developing a career whether or not you choose to pursue the arts. This course counts for 25% of your arts classes curriculum and overall grade.
If you are enrolled in a separate ninth period class, you have been selected to be a part of a special team or project. Your ninth period teacher will walk you through your assignment for today.
EVERYONE should be logging in to their ninth period class today.
Once Encore is back on campus, ninth period will be splitting the Arts Houses into projects. You will check in with your ninth period teacher and then be dismissed to go to the teacher/project that you are working on. The following are examples of projects that you might be assigned to.
House of Performing Arts:
Cirque and Dance - All of our circus artists and dancers will be putting together a full length circus show called "Cinematic". This is a full show that is dedicated and themed around movie music. Members of the circus and dance conservatories (preconservatory too) will work with a variety of the dance/circus teachers on pieces that will be in the show.
Theatre - Actors and Actresses will either be cast in one of the upcoming stage plays or work on small filmed projects that will air during Encore's recitals, film festival, or monthly shows brought to you on Twitch.
House of Music Arts:
Instrumental Music - All of our musicians will be working in small groups with the music teachers to compose and learn pieces for their full concert that will take place during second semester. They will also work on smaller mini projects that will culminate into "coffee house" styled performances and filmed shows to be aired on Twitch.
Vocal Music - Our vocalists will work on Encore's Master Choir to prepare for the concert that will take place second semester. Soloists will be selected to sing with the various bands that will participate in second semester and all of the vocalists will work together for one large choral section for the second semester concert. They will also work on smaller mini projects that will culminate into "coffee house" Indy style nights and filmed shows to be aired on Twitch.
House of Expressive Arts:
Visual & Technical Arts - Our artists will always be building the next arts installation. Depending on the level of expertise will dictate which project each artist is working on. Not only will they be working on individual pieces for the second semester art gallery and show, they will also be working on outdoor and indoor installation projects to share their art with the world. For example, first semester:
PreConservatory Artists - will work on creating the rainbow rock entry at the entry of the campus.
Level 1 Artists - will break into teams of four to create individual works of art for the gallery show AND to redesign and paint one of the park benches in front of the stage.
Level 2 Artists - will break into teams of four to create individual works of art for the gallery show AND to redesign and paint one of the picnic tables in the quad.
Level 3+ Artists - will break into teams of six to create individual works of art for the gallery show AND to build an installation project in the quad relfecting the four House Animals
Mural Designers - will be working on the mural in the new multi purpose room
House of Career Arts:
Students that are assigned into this group will be working on specific projects. Yearbook, costume design, cooking, Mock Trial, gaming, and ASB are all parts of the House of Careers and will have ongoing projects that are reflective of specific needs from that course.
This is not meant to be an all-inclusive list, but I wanted to share with you what is in store for you when you return to campus and help explain the reasons behind the Friday block of time dedicated to your House. You need not worry which teacher you are assigned to for Friday ninth period class. That teacher is for the purpose of attendance only. Once attendance is taken, you will break into the project group that you have been assigned to.
In the meantime, all of you should concentrate on completing the Arts, Media, and Entertainment Level I class at home so when we are back on campus - we can concentrate on the projects. Thank you for your help.
