Makeup Packets for Low First Semester Grades

At the end of the first semester of distance learning during a pandemic, students may not have earned the grade that they wanted in their classes. Encore's faculty have worked tirelessly to try to make sure that all Encore students have access to be successful as a student during the pandemic.

There has been a huge learning curve and in some cases students have not taken the opportunities afforded to them for their grades. Encore wants to make sure that we are still supporting our students and families during this crazy time. For any student that has earned and "F" on their first semester report card, your teachers will be emailing you and your parent/guardian a makeup work packet that you will have one month to complete in that class. This packet work is created to get you to a "C" in that class. After a month if the packet is not completed, the "F" will become final on your first semester report card.

On top of these recovery packets, Encore also has other supports in place to help our students succeed. It is important for everyone to remember that even though the world is crazy right now, no student or family should not make a child's education a priority. We urge all of our families to use our supports to help your student succeed so when the world does reopen, Encore students will have the tools they need to succeed in postsecondary education.

Other supports offered to Encore students:

1. Tutoring - Teachers have tutoring available throughout the week, Tuesdays through Fridays from 7:45 am - 8:15 am.

2. Email - You can email your teacher for specific support

3. Asynchronous Recordings - Your teacher has recordings from their classes available on their Google classroom so you can rewatch the class if you need to.

4. NHS Peer Tutoring - If you would like to have help from another student on your classwork, email Mr. Parker jparker@encorehighschool.com to request a peer tutor.

5. Internet Cafe - Encore gives access to students that are having trouble accessing the internet by giving them a quiet study hall where they can access the internet during the day. Contact helpdesk@encorehighschool.com for more information.
