Professional Film Programs at Encore: Career Readiness

We live in a world set just outside of Los Angeles entertainment scene. This is a world that typically employs thousands of artists every year. Billions of dollars are spent and earned in the big screen and small screen industries with a healthy portion of those dollars originating in Los Angeles California.

Encore‘s focus for students is to prepare them for careers after high school. Starting this fall, Encore is launching a new professional development program centered around the industry that is in the next neighborhood (Los Angeles)...... film.

In Encore’s tenure, we have created many young film actors and filmmakers. Some of our film actors have moved on to be in movies and on television. (Our latest is Lee Rodriguez currently premiering on “Never Have I Ever” on Netflix). Our filmmakers have moved on to university film programs at UCLA, UNLV, and this year Columbia (Congratulations Jacob Sutton). We have short films that have been featured in festivals and have won statewide awards. This is a great start.

in the fall, Encore is moving away from a rotating block schedule to open more possibilities for students in the region. With this change comes opportunity to expand and build programs. During 20/21 school year, Encore’s professional film program is going to specialize and intensify. This means that film actors and filmmakers have the opportunity to build more relevant portfolios and build skills and knowledge for the big and small screens. They will have intense, free training, three days per week.

Students interested in going into Encore’s professional film program should contact info@encorehighschool.com to get audition information. Students must be at least a level 2 conservatory student to qualify. Students not at this level should enroll in conservatory classes to gain the skills to qualify. This program is open to grades 9-12 and is FREE, with some participation fees that may come up from time to time for special events. There is transportation available from Norco (Spring Valley Parkway), Eastvale, and Foothill Blvd. off the 15 freeway. This program can be combined with either hybrid study or seat-based study at Encore.

Students will create and direct films and learn how to act for camera. They will build themselves as a brand and career candidate with annual industry shows and release parties.

Film is in our backyard. Now the Encore pirates will have the ability to capitalize on what is in their own backyard. Prepare for the screen, whether it is big or small.
