Pictured here is the Encore Riverside campus after being vandalized on Monday night during the outbreak of outrage fueled by the actions in Minneapolis. As we move through an unprecedented year with unprecedented results from things that we can only imagine, how does anyone rebuild their emotional strength?
Encore High School does what they can to make sure that staff, students, and families are kept safe and "in the know" as the year of 2020 keeps unfolding and handing us humdingers every single day. We are asking our families to make sure that you are checking on yourself and your children as each and every day unfolds. We also ask that as the world is unfolding at a very quick pace, make sure that you are staying connected to Encore's communication lifelines - ALL CALLS and Constant Contacts.
When Covid Hit on March 13, 2020 - Encore was proactive by starting spring break three days early in Riverside to allow for state and federal officials to figure out what would come next. Parents, staff, and students were notified immediately after the decision so they could make plans.
When the State and Federal Governments shut down the state - Encore was proactive by extending "stay at home" through May 1. Encore then retrained their teaching staff and prepared for Distance Learning to start on March 30. New web sites were built to help communicate with parents and parents, staff, and students were notified via ALL CALL and Constant Contact.
When the State shut down the schools for the rest of the school year - Encore was proactive by setting school year dates, grading implementation, and communication with parents, staff, and students. At that time, Encore also worked proactively to set school calendars for the coming fall later than historically done. State and federal entities make decisions of what they need for Encore to follow for reopening. Encore is giving them time to make these decisions.
As reopenings start to happen - Encore is being proactive and up to the minute so support for the students can continue. Things like drive through 8th grade promotion and preproduction graduation have evolved from Encore taking the lead of the local entities. Encore continues to watch and be creative to make sure our kiddos can experience the events that they have looked forward to throughout their Encore careers. These up to the minute program changes are communicated via ALL CALL and Email notifications. Because openings and things are changing daily, Encore relies on stakeholders to stay in touch via phone calls, text messages, and email.
When vandalism started to happen in our neighborhood - Encore was proactive once again. Although our drive through 8th grade promotion event was planned in Riverside earlier in the day, rumors of vandalism scheduled to start at lunchtime in the downtown area caused Encore's team to decide whether or not to postpone 8th grade promotion. Always being cautious, Encore decided to delay the promotion by one week to keep everyone safe. Parents were immediately notified via ALL CALL.
As the story of 2020 continues to unfold, Encore is dedicated to continuing the process of communication and acting swiftly to make sure our students, staff, and parents are safe and informed. If you are a parent of Encore and you are not receiving the weekly all call updates or the Constant Contact emails, please let the receptionists know. Please do not block these communications because we want to make sure all of us are on the same page. We are committed to safety. Safety begins with communication.
