Report Cards and Grading Periods

We are well into the swing of the new school year. The start of this year has been harder for some families and students as NO ONE planned for this to happen this year. Encore has dug in deep with a lot of work from our amazing teaching staff to bring forward an academic plan that is essential for growth and success in a very strange world.

Part of making sure that our students succeed is by giving progress reports to parents and students along the way. You can always see how a student is doing by logging on to the parent portal in Aeries, but taking a periodic snapshot is important too. Today, I am going to share with you the grading windows so everyone can be aware of important progress dates.

Since the first four weeks of school have been a lot of learning for all of us, I have asked our teaching staff to reach out to students and families that may need some extra support during this time. During this week and next week, teachers will be meeting with parents and students during teacher conferences to help make sure that everyone is supported. It is important that we all work together to find the common thread that will lead to student success. Please make sure that you make every effort possible to be a part of these conferences.

IMPORTANT DATES: GRADING TERMS

First Quarter: 9/14/2020 - 11/13/2020

Second Quarter: 11/16/2020 - 2/5/2021

Third Quarter: 2/8/2021 - 4/16/2021

Fourth Quarter: 4/19/2021 - 6/18/2021

First Semester: 9/14/2020 - 2/5/2021

Second Semester: 2/8/2021 - 6/18/2021

Progress reports for struggling students are done four weeks into each quarter.

It is important for everyone to understand that school is back in session with the same rigor as if we were in our traditional, normal classroom setting. The assignments count and the students need to complete the work as assigned. We want to make sure that all of our students succeed, so we need them to take school with the same commitment as if they were in class on campus.

TIPS FOR HELP

  • Tutoring - Is available Tuesdays through Fridays for academics 7:45 - 8:15 am (Will resume in two weeks after parent conferences are complete)

  • Peer Tutoring - Is available through National Honor Society. If you would like to schedule peer tutoring, please email Mr. Parker, Jparker@encorehighschool.com

  • Recorded Sessions - Classes are available on recordings for 10 days after the original class. You can rewatch the class for clarification.

  • Late Work - Since COVID and Distance Learning can cause technical difficulties, students can turn in assignments late for full credit up until the end of the quarter.

  • Extra Credit - All classes offer extra credit. If you don't see it on Google classroom, don't be afraid to ask.

Remember, Encore has the Internet Cafe available if you need to come to school for internet connectivity. Contact helpdesk@encorehighschool.com to register for cafe usage.

At the end of the day, all of us want to see our students succeed in a big way. This year, we need to lean on parents more than we have in the past because we can't see your children in person. We are asking everyone to work with us so we can all become a cohesive unit, able to provide the support system that our kiddos need. Thank you for your help.
