Succeeding Through COVID-19 Academically

Navigating the current fabric of education can be tricky... Let us help you succeed.

Whether you are on campus or on Zoom, you need to make sure that you are prepared to learn. Make sure that you are kind, patient, and respectful to your teachers and your classmates. All of Encore's regular policies still apply on and off campus.

When we come back from spring break, it is important that our students are prepared at home and in person.

HOW CAN I BE PREPARED TO LEARN?

  • Make sure that you get a good night's sleep and have a good breakfast before school.

  • Create a workspace that will help you complete your tasks without being distracted.

  • Make sure you have all of your school materials with you including a fully charged Chromebook.

  • Get dressed as if you are going to school.

  • Log in and check both Google Classroom and your encorestudent email account every day.

  • Check your teacher's Google Classroom every period for class announcements.

WHAT DO CLASSES AT HOME LOOK LIKE?

  • Each class period follows the regular bell scheulde.

  • All assignments are posted in Google Classroom. Make sure you log in to Google classroom every day.

  • Students must log in to the live session at the beginning of every class via Zoom. The address is posted in your teacher's Google classroom.

  • If you miss the live session, you must go to the recording and complete the assignment asynchronously ON THE SAME DAY. When you complete the class for the day, you need to have your parent complete the attendance form on encorehighschool.com to get credit for class attendance.

  • The live session may include direct instruction, videos and audio recordins with discussion, teacher/student interaction, group activities, breakout sessions, and response to questions. The live session will generally not cover the entire class period.

  • Students must turn on and turn off their cameras as directed by their teacher.

  • Grading is based on the completion of assignments and are adherant to state standards and teacher expectations. There is still homework, classwork, tests, projects, and other tasks.

WHAT DO I DO DURING THE LIVE SESSIONS?

  • Respond and participate in class.

  • The class is being recorded, so make sure that you are respectful to your teacher and classmates.

  • Put your cell phone away. The regular cell phone policies are in effect.

  • You are not allowed to record or photograph the session.

  • Eating or drinking during live sessions (except water) is not allowed.

  • Keep all pets, siblings not part of the class away from the screen.

  • Follow all teacher requests to mute or unmute your device microphone or remove and item, individual, or pet from your work area.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM ABSENT OR IF I MISS A LIVE SESSION?
