Teaching Arts No Matter Where You Are

On Friday the 13th (in March), none of knew that we would be bracing for the long haul and how something we can't even see with the naked eye, would change the world (and industries) forever. It has and Encore is working hard to get ahead of the innovation to make sure our students are supported both academically and artistically as we move into the fall. Arts programs are just as important to Encore as the academics. Encore's arts programs are where the students learn how to get a job and build a career. These soft skills are critical to success after high school.
So if a student is switching gears and now learning from home, how does arts training continue?
For the last twelve years of operation, Encore has relied heavily on a very active and engaging artistic environment. Students participated in shows and events that happen every week on campus, on field trips, domestically, and internationally. Moving into the new school year, Encore is getting creative on how to help students still have relevant teaching and relevant arts production and showing opportunities.
Arts Teachers will be teaching in Real Time.
Whether you are choosing to be on campus or in Real Time Homeschool (COVID Program), you will be able to get your arts training from your teacher in real time during the school week. This means your arts training will continue and will continue to be relevant.

Teams will be preparing for second semester competitions.
In August, Encore will announce team rush week that will happen virtually. This means that students will still be able to try out for teams for the school year. Cheer, Production X, Ambassadors, Street Band, Junior High Dance, JV Dance, Varsity Dance, Hip Hop, Cosplay, Arts Troupe, California Scholastic Federation, National Honor Society, Junior High ASB, and others will be pitching their teams on a Zoom conference and letting everyone know how to try out for their teams this year. Encore is planning for second semester competitions.
Class Projects will be "Going Live."
At least once a quarter, Encore's arts teachers are going to put together a presentation that will be "aired" on Zoom so people can see the completed work. In addition to that, Encore's artists will have special highlights on Encore's Instagram and Facebook every week so they can show off their skills.
Productions will be planned for "Live" and "On Air" scenarios.
For performing artists, this is a perfect time for them to learn how to plan and prepare for small and big screens. Even if we can't pack a theater for shows and likely Carnival, we can still build great content that we can share on Vimeo and YouTube platforms. The projects this year will include both scenarios with "On Air" scenarios planned for first semester and in person projects will be planned for second semesters.
Zoom Rehearsals and Master Classes
Teams and groups will still be able to work within guidelines put forth by the CDC. Rehearsals have been successful via Zoom when they need to be. We also have opportunity to bring in more Master Classes when they are virtual.
Encore's New Curriculum Platform
When Encore releases their new curriculum platform at the beginning of the school year, Arts classes weigh in on the curriculum with just as much importance as the academics. Our artists need to have engaging lessons and teachers no matter where they are within the COVID pandemic. Encore is prepared to continue the training and the art no matter what the platform is.
Overall, this is a great lesson in flexibility for our students. This will help them become more career-minded and ready for the future. Encore's arts programs are both in person and virtual in real time. We are excited and ready for the challenge.
