Team Recruitment 20/21

With such a strange start of the year, getting into your teams is going to be done virtually this year. This also includes getting into some of the professional programs that are offered on campus during the week.

On Monday, September 21 at 3:00 pm - Encore will be holding a meeting for students that are interested in joining a team. This meeting will be held virtually on Twitch and will act as a Teaser to help students know what they want to audition for or take part in the membership drive for. All of the team advisors will speak briefly about their team.

We do, however, also have programs on campus that are conducting enrollment and resume processes right now to help get people into those programs. The following list will help you choose if you want to get these programs into your schedule.

Mock Trial - Encore's Mock Trial team took second place last year at the county level. Under the direction of Mr. Zamanis, this is a group of individuals that will research a case and create a prosecution and defense to challenge other schools to a mock trial that is judged by actual judges. This team will be meeting during ninth period on Fridays. If you are interested in joining the team, please email Mr. Zamanis dzamanis@encorehighschool.com today. The first class for mock trial will be held next Friday.

Professional Musicians Program (Street Band) - This will be Encore's second year with the Street Band program. This professional musicians program is a way for young commercial musicians to push the rigor of their music programs by developing shows and material for touring, performances, and to grow their abilities as musicians and working in small groups. Last year's band performed at senior centers and elementary schools. This program requires the student to take Period 5 Music Composition, Period 6 Commercial Band, and Period 7 Rock Band. This group is under the direction of Mr. Nikola Chekhardzhikov. If you are interested in joining this program, please email nchekhardzhikov@encorehighschool.com

Professional Filmmakers and Film Actors Program - This is a brand new program at Encore designed for the most advanced filmmakers and the most advanced actors on Encore's campus. This professional program advances the rigor for actors and filmmakers through a block program that teaches how to create films and the difference between acting on stage and acting for a screen (there is huge difference). Students in this program are preparing for a film festival to be held during second semester. This program requires the student to take the program block periods 5 - 8. The classes are developed as follows:

For Actors:

  1. Period 5 is a filmmaker's class created for actors

  2. Period 6 is an professional acting class for film

  3. Period 7 is a studio class to work on film projects

  4. Period 8 is a lab class to work on film projects

For Filmmakers:

  1. Period 5 is an acting class created for filmmakers

  2. Period 6 is a professional filmmakers class

  3. Period 7 is a studio class to work on film projects

  4. Period 8 is a lab class to work on film projects

If you are interested in this program as an actor, please email bhill@encorehighschool.com. If you are interested in this program as a filmmaker, please email joshuabarkdull@encorehighschool.com.

Professional Artist Development Program (Ambassadors) - This is the oldest professional program at Encore (started in 2003, 5 years before Encore opened). This program is a high level of rigor that helps advanced performing artists master their craft, their ability to market themselves, career development, and their experience onstage. It teaches the performers how to become more employable by big names and how to interview and speak with confidence. This program is for singers, dancers, circus artists (and musicians and actors that can move). Last year, students in this program participated in elementary school tours of shows and a summer tour (2019 pre COVID) tour on Carnival cruise lines. They attend private workshops in Las Vegas and usually have some kind of summer project. They also take part in the end of year Industry Showcase. During COVID, this group is producing a monthly on air program in the stylings of "All That" and "In Living Color" that will air on the last Wednesday of every month. This program requires the student to take the program block periods 1 - 3. They also have after school rehearsals on Mondays from 3:45 - 6:30 pm when needed. The classes are as follows:

  1. Period 1 is a professional cirque training course

  2. Period 2 is a professional vocal music course

  3. Period 3 is a professional dance course

If you are interested in this program, please email jayleen@encorehighschool.com (Ms. Jay).
