Last night, Encore's School Board held their monthly meeting. I wanted to take a quick minute to let you know what happened at last night's board meeting.
BENCHMARKS: Mrs. Dolf, Assistant Dean of Academics, went over the process and implementation of Benchmark testing that started this Monday with Encore's newly adopted Benchmark Platform (NWEA) that was certified by the state as a provider in November 2020.
SCHOOL CALENDARS: Next year's school calendars were approved for both junior high and high school. The new school calendar has the new school year starting on September 3 (backing up one week from the current school year's start) and reimplementing the third week for winter break. Spring break will continue to be one week for next school year so we can still end the school year at about the same time as this year. These minor changes are to work on a two year plan to return the school calendar to pre-COVID measures.
SECOND INTERIM BUDGET: Encore's Second Interim Budget was approved showing a pretty steady position fiscally from first interim to second interim. Encore is projecting a 9% ending balance by June 30, which is a solid ending balance and puts Encore in line with state requirements.
AUDITED ACTUALS: Encore's audited actuals were approved for the 19/20 school year from Nigro & Nigro. One of the actions put into place to work on the internal controls exception was the addition of an onsite Controller that was hired on March 1, 2021.
CHROMEBOOKS PURCHASE: Encore's IT department was approved to purchase 250 student Chromebooks based on use and breakage from this school year going into next school year.
FORM 700s: Encore's Legal Department walked the Board through filling out Form 700s in order to meet the April 1 deadline for the 2020 fiscal year.
Our Board meetings happen on the second Monday of every month at 6:30 pm. You can tune in and watch in real time by clicking on the link on our home page.
We appreciate the time and commitment from our Encore School Board.
