Your Class Schedule & Communication Outlets

At last night's parent technology training, there were a lot of questions about the first day of school and student class schedules. We have also had quite a few people that have still not been in contact with Encore for back to school, course selection, or device pickup day. We need your help.

At Encore, we use a variety of tools to help our families stay engaged and up to date with what is happening on campus. This is my 133rd consecutive day of writing a daily blog to help everyone be informed and on the same page. We need more families to use the tools that we have so we can prevent frustration. You can help us by sharing today's blog so we can help our families get the communication they need. Thank you for helping this year be the most informed year that we have ever had. Communication is key to helping everyone manage expectations.

Forms of Communication

1. encorehighschool.com Daily Blog - With the exception of weekends, the blog is written in real time every morning. The topics of the blog are chosen by what is happening on campus and what questions are coming up on campus from day to day. In order to stay informed and up to date with everything happening at Encore, I suggest subscribing to the daily blog. You don't have to read it every day, but it will give you insight about everything that is happening from day to day on campus.

2. Constant Contact Email Blasts - Encore sends periodic emails to all students and parents through email to help keep everyone informed. If you haven't heard from us in awhile, you might need to check your spam folder to make sure that we have not been placed into spam. If you opt out of receiving these emails, it will affect your ability to get up to date information. If you are not currently getting these emails, you can subscribe to these emails on the home page of the website. We have added a subscription pop up to help keep you up to date.

3. All Calls and All Texts - Encore sends periodic all calls and text messages to students and parents to make sure that everyone is formed. In the event of a snow day or school closure, the initial contact will come from this form of communication. We also generally have either Mr. Griffin (COO and Dean of Students) or the ASB President send a weekly all call message on Monday or Tuesday of each week. Class Schedules

Encore's counseling department will have schedules available to everyone by late afternoon today. Based on the completed course requests, counseling has been working very hard to make sure that our students have the courses they need before they make the schedules available to everyone. An email blast and a text message will be sent to let everyone know when the schedules have been made available. You will access your schedules on Aeries. Check your email for a prompt on how to set up your Aeries account if you do not already have one. For aeries issues, please email jthibodeaux@encorehighschool.com for support.

This year was a strange one for course selections. With so many changes this year and not being able to meet with students to go over how to select courses, we are anticipating more mistakes on schedules than in prior years. There were quite a few contributing factors to this including students filling out multiple course requests, students not filling out course requests, and students not choosing the courses that they need to complete their high school education plan. As a result, our counseling department is poised and ready to go with the fixes required to make sure that everyone gets the schedule they need. About half of Encore's population did not complete a course selection and about a quarter of Encore's population filled out the course selection sheet at least three times. Counseling has worked hard to maneuver through the waters and we will get this right for everyone. Don't panic.

If you did not complete a course selection form and you are COVID DL, Hybrid, or Traditional program - the counseling department has enrolled you into your basic academic classes needed for graduation path and nothing else. They will be reaching out to you via email to help complete your schedule.

FOR ANYONE WITH A SCHEDULE ISSUE: We are asking that you complete the form on the website, https://www.encorehighschool.com/copy-of-attendance-verification The counseling department will start working on schedules on Monday based on the completion of this counseling request form.

If there is an issue with your schedule: Continue to go to the classes as currently scheduled. Once counseling has updated your schedule, you will receive the update in your email and you will start that schedule as soon as it is received. We are asking that everyone is patient since it has been difficult for many to complete the course selection process this year. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
