THE ART OF….. BALLET

Filling the stage with princesses and princes happens all the time in ballet. Ballerinas that work through blood, sweat, and tears to become the dancer in the platter tutu get to feel like royalty. For the dancers of Encore, learning the fundamentals of ballet can take them around the world. Encore High School’s ballet program has helped many young dancers advance to intern company positions with groups like the world-famous Kirov Ballet and receive large college scholarships to universities like UCLA, Azusa Pacific, Arizona State, Chapman University, Cal. State Long Beach, and UC Irvine.
Encore ballerinas have had classes with dancers from the Canadian Royal Ballet, Joffrey, and have been featured on stages around California. This starts with a connection with the basics and the rigid knowledge needed to excel in ballet.

For a ballerina, your life moves in counts of 8, physics of turns, and the sweat that culminates around a wooden barre. The feeling of triumph when you get your first pair of pointe shoes is amazing. This is a success that you can only earn on your own. You have to work hard to earn the honor of pointe shoes and a platter tutu. It is the blood, sweat, and tears that make you feel like a princess in ballet.

Encore offers six classes in ballet. Levels 1 – 4 in ballet and then 2 levels of Pointe are offered during the regular school day.

Encore has three ballet instructors in the faculty with a diverse background in training that has stemmed from professional work including Disney, Joffrey, and the Inland Ballet Company.
