Tap Dance was invented in the United States.
It’s true! The United States is the melting pot and TAP is the melting pot of dance. The percussion made using series of toe and heel taps uses a combination of African tribal dance, Scottish clog dance, Irish Jigs, and English Hornpipe dances. The minstrel shows of the 1850s is where the tap phenomenon began.

In modern times, every aspiring professional dancer has to have basis in tap to make sure that they are well rounded performers and available for the regular insertion of tap in Broadway musicals and the use of stomp in various hip hop routines. Encore believes in the importance of learning the fundamentals of tap dance.

Encore combines the expertise of Jazz and Tap into the 90 minute classes that meet every other day within a dancer’s block.
